ALE has completed a three-year project on Sakhalin Island, Russia. The scope of the contract included the offload, transportation and installation of modules with weights of up to nearly 3,000t.
The project cargo comprised of drilling and process modules. Due to weather conditions, the cargo was received during the ice-free season in 2016 and 2017. The modules were offloaded and transported using up to 182 axle lines of SPMT and link-span bridges. The cargo travelled 12km.
Tommy Quik, Project Manager for ALE, said: “It was great to have worked on this project. We were working in a challenging environment, as the job site is remote with limited resources and infrastructure, as well as in demanding weather conditions.
“For this reason, we deployed an experienced team onto the site to execute our contracted scope. We were able to progress through the project, moving the cargo safely because of detailed execution planning and an excellent working relationship that was established with the client (site) team.”
