Project growth continues for BITO

New facility will support further growth of BITO’s successful Fastrack catalogue

Edward Hutchison, MD of Nuneaton-based BITO Storage Systems is keen to make the operation the biggest and most successful subsidiary of the global BITO group – which is headquartered in Meissenheim, Germany. He said: “Group turnover is €185 million, with a UK contribution of €15m. This establishes us as one of the larger subsidiaries. In the UK, BITO has achieved year on year growth of over 20% by order intake.”

Employing some 20 experienced staff in the UK – the group has 900 employees in Europe – Hutchison is seeking to by maximise the Nuneaton-based operation’s great growth potential with a plan to swell its current headcount to 32 by 2020. This plan includes building a new head office, warehouse and showroom this autumn on a green-field site across the road from its existing Nuneaton HQ. This will double the size of its existing facilities. The new, larger warehouse will hold a broader range of stock – including Pallet Racking and Carton-Live in addition to a greater volume of fast moving stock items.

This new facility will support further growth of BITO’s successful Fastrack catalogue, which continues to prove very popular, with its 3-day delivery offer. The latest copy of the catalogue is currently being distributed and contains a broad range of storage products. Last year BITO UK received over 3000 orders, 80% of which were served from its UK warehouse.

In addition to this direct channel, BITO’s solutions channel offers regional sales. Industry Orientated Selling staff, who can understand their local clients’ real pain – such as a need to increase picking speed and reduce stock levels, deploy their experience to contribute a solution at a justifiable return on investment.

A third route to market for BITO is via national key accounts as well as working with systems Integrators. BITO is seeing growth in sectors including food & beverage, ecommerce, fashion retail, and pharmaceutical. Big name clients include ASDA, Lidl, Alliance, AAH, Phoenix Healthcare, Jaguar Landrover, Staples, Next, BMW and John Lewis.

Hutchison goes on to explain: “As the UK’s economy continues to grow in 2015, it can sometimes be hard to assess exactly how this will affect a business. The worst possible action, with memories of recent recessions still fresh in our minds, is to do nothing. In six months from now, not being able to cope, having to turn business away and missed new opportunities that could have built your business for the future could be very frustrating.

“Efficient storage and handling is an essential part of the UK’s recovery. The best way to ensure you have a cost effective and flexible solution that fulfills your current requirements can adapt to changing marking conditions is to engage a solution provider that can combine experience, expertise backed up by high quality products that can be relied upon and work seamlessly as part of an integrated solution.

“An experienced sales team, such as BITO’s, will carry out the design and estimating of a solution. This will carry a thorough understanding of the project right through from conception to completion – and even onto aftersales. Furthermore, there is no wasted time, which is important when meeting the growing demand for shorter project leadtimes.”
