Tactical refuelling tanker transported from UK to Malaysia

For tactical aid required in the area for use by the Armed Forces

Tuscor Lloyds was employed to transport an out of gauge tactical refuelling tanker from Stafford, UK to Penang, Malaysia for tactical aid required in the area for use by the Armed Forces.

The size and weight of the tanker required the cargo to be split and the tank/truck sections were loaded onto individual 40ft flat rack containers which could secure the out of gauge height and width of the cargo for transportation between Stafford and Penang. Due to many shipping lines not being licensed to carry military cargo this wasn’t easily done.

As the cargo was military and also a tactical refuelling tank, this had to be driven and escorted by members of the British Armed Forces. Tuscor Lloyds’ Martyn Blackburn (who comes from a military background) liaised with both the port of Felixstowe; port of departure, and the military personnel escorting the refuelling tanker to ensure the cargo arrived to the port at its scheduled time for an efficient loading on to the vessel.

Once the cargo arrived at the port of Felixstowe, its lashing was checked and confirmed as safe/secure for ocean transport to Malaysia. The 23 ton cargo was then lifted using a heavy lift crane and loaded/secured to the vessel.

The cargo arrived in Penang port 38 days after it initially left the manufacturers in Stafford. Logistics for the military sector can be difficult but thanks to the experienced project cargo handlers at Tuscor Lloyds and the military/port side personnel assisting throughout, the tactical refuelling tanker arrived in Malaysia within the scheduled time and budget for the shipment.
