A long-standing family ownership allows for longer planning & investment, looking beyond the next business cycle
Over the past 10 years, the Tschudi Group (www.tschudigroup.com) has developed further into a Shipping, Offshore and Logistics Group with particular focus on the East-West flow of cargoes and projects involving the Baltic, Russia, CIS countries and the Northern Regions of Norway and Russia. Tschudi is a privately controlled Norwegian company operating within the international maritime industry.

The Tschudi Shipping Company AS dates back to 1883, when the shipping company Tschudi & Eitzen AS was established. The founders of Tschudi & Eitzen AS were both Captains onboard the world’s first sailing tankers. The company subsequently operated a wide range of vessels starting with sailing and steamships and moving onto general cargo vessels, tankers, bulk carriers, OBOs, submersible heavy lift vessels, chemical tankers, gas carriers, tugs and barges as well as container and Ro-Ro vessels.

In 2003, the Tschudi Shipping Company AS was established representing the Tschudi family’s ownership in Tschudi & Eitzen AS. Tschudi Shipping Company AS builds on more than 125 years of direct and active involvement as owners, managers and operators of ships and cargoes. Tschudi Shipping Company AS is now owned by the fourth generation of the Tschudi family.

The Tschudi Group currently owns a fleet of multipurpose container vessels, tugs and offshore vessels in addition to operating container lines between northern European ports in the Baltic and North Sea.

The Tschudi Group combines the different transportation services and modes available within the Group or from associates and partners or from the market to provide full logistical solutions, matching geographical destinations and cargo composition requirements.
The Tschudi Group is represented by subsidiaries, joint ventures and associated companies in Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, the Ukraine, and Switzerland.

Tschudi Arctic
Tschudi Shipping Company has since the early 90s had activities in the northern regions of Norway and Russia. In 2006, Tschudi Shipping Company AS bought Sydvaranger AS in Kirkenes,Norway – now renamed to Tschudi Kirkenes AS. As a significant property owner and industrial player in the region, the Group is well positioned for the oil and gas development in the region. Energy and mineral resource development is now accelerating and this is an area where transportation will be of increasing importance.

The Tschudi Group subsidiary, Tschudi Arctic Transit AS, offers transhipment of oil, LNG, bulk and general cargoes using Honningsvåg (North Cape, Northern Norway) and Kirkenes as ice free deep water transhipment ports. There is an increasing demand for oil export solutions within Russia and Tschudi Arctic Transit is now in the advantageous position to offer Russian clients a wider range of competitive services. Due to the shallow waters and ice conditions in many Russian ports, it is more economical to transship oil cargoes to conventional vessels in ice free, deep waters for further transportation.

In August 2011, Tschudi Arctic Transit successfully conducted a gas condensate STS operation at Honningsvåg. A cargo was transferred from two Panamax size tankers to a Suezmax which then proceeded via the Northern Sea Route to Asia.

The Tschudi Group provides good logistical solutions with focus on Russia, the Central Asian Republics, Baltics and Northern regions.

Brand
The Tschudi family originates from Switzerland and the funnel mark is therefore based on the coat of arms of Zurich, displayed on a red belt, combining the Swiss symbol with the Norwegian colours. This was first introduced in 1896 on the Norwegian steamship, MV UTO as a gesture to the vessel’s Swiss shareholders.

The Tschudi logo is a personal logo – combining the family name with a flag from the original funnel mark from 1896.
