Transaid has hired two new staff members, reflecting the charity’s growth and a scaling up of its projects for 2012.

Now operating in eight African countries – more than ever before – Transaid has hired Valerie Johnson as Head of Finance and Jacqueline Hector as Corporate Partnerships Manager.

Transaid CEO Gary Forster says: “We are fortunate enough to have had a very successful 2011 which happily means our workload has increased.

“Both Valerie and Jacqueline have significant experience in their fields and with many new projects in the pipeline for 2012 I’m sure their involvement will prove invaluable.”

He added: “It is crucial that we continue to maximise our valuable business partnerships, maintain a good return on investment and continue delivering quality transport programmes in Africa.”

Valerie has worked in accountancy for most of her career and will initially focus on developing Transaid’s financial systems and processes. Her experience includes positions at Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, PricewaterhouseCoopers and BP.

Jacqueline has significant communications experience, having previously worked at Reed Exhibitions UK. She will support the charity’s marketing team and take care of day-to-day liaison with Transaid members and supporters.
