Schiphol wins twice

AFSCA awards

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol received double honours in the 2012 Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA), winning the ‘Best Airport Europe’ category for the eighteenth time and ‘Best Cargo Terminal Europe’ section for the thirteenth occasion. The AFSCA awards, now in their 26th year, honour winning organisations for their leadership, service quality, innovation, customer relationship management and reliability. The awards cover 39 categories, and all voting is independently audited. The Airport award took into consideration Schiphol’s infrastructure, competitiveness, investment, and provision of cargo support services and facilities. The Air Cargo Terminal Award sought evidence of performance standards, satisfactory resolution of
problems and the effectiveness and user-friendliness of IT systems. Schiphol’s Senior VP Cargo, Enno Osinga, received the awards at a glittering presentation ceremony in Shanghai, in front of an audience of several hundred top ranking transport-, logistics- and supply chain executives from around the region.
Says Osinga: "We are extremely pleased with these awards. Winning “Best Airport in
Europe” for the eighteenth time is a much-appreciated acknowledgment of our constant efforts to be a good host to our cargo community. “That we have also been voted “Best Cargo Terminal” once again, is recognition that the collaboration between Schiphol and its cargo community has successfully created a centre for air cargo excellence. Further motivated by this award, we will continue to support our supply chain partners at every opportunity – driving innovation, encouraging investment and assisting business development here.”
