The Saudi Ports Authority “Mawani,” represented by the Jeddah Islamic Port, has achieved the Advanced Port Infrastructure Award at the Landmarks in Logistics Awards 2023 in the United Arab Emirates.
This recognition stands as evidence of the remarkable expansion and development of the Port’s infrastructure, featuring modern docks tailored for the latest generation of large vessels. Additionally, it includes cutting-edge, automated machinery adhering to eco-friendly standards. Nearly 9 billion riyals were invested in expansion projects and developmental initiatives, significantly enhancing operational capacity and competitive advantage.
The award underscores the transformative evolution of the Jeddah Islamic Port and its innovative endeavors to boost operational efficiency, particularly through initiatives like the ‘Smart Ports Initiative,’ utilising advanced 5G technologies to automate operations.
Moreover, this accomplishment reaffirms the Port’s pivotal role in global trade facilitation, aligning with the national transport and logistics strategy and solidifying the Kingdom’s stature as a global logistics hub.
This recent honor joins the Port’s array of accolades, including the ‘Port of the Year’ from the Logistics and Transport Awards in the UAE (September 2023) and the ‘Best Port’ distinction at the International Green Shipping Summit in the Netherlands (February 2023).
Strategically positioned along the East-West trade route, the Jeddah Islamic Port serves as a vital connection between Europe, Asia, and Africa. Its prime location, combined with its state-of-the-art infrastructure, has fortified its standing in international maritime trade.
The ‘Landmarks in Logistics’ awards are organised by ‘Logistics Gulf News,’ a media platform specialising in the logistics services sector in the Arab Gulf region, celebrating the achievements of leading institutions in this dynamic industry.
