Bolloré Logistics ships centrifuge

Bolloré Logistics

Bolloré Logistics Abu Dhabi carried out an end-to-end shipment from France of a C72-4, a civil engineering centrifuge to be installed in a centrifuge chamber at the University of New York in Abu Dhabi on behalf of Actidyn, a leader in the field of geotechnical centrifuge modelling.

Initially, the terms of carrying out shipments were understood to be DDP with an end of service at the airport. The centrifuge and its accessories were then placed after dismantling in full containers (2×40’HC and 1×20′) and transported to the airport of departure.

Bolloré Logistics Abu Dhabi was finally selected for the complex local handling and delivery to the final site, including the installation of the equipment.

This expedition proved difficult given the complexity of unstuffing, unloading and airlifting all units to the centrifuge chamber. Compliance aspects were taken into consideration in choosing the sub-contractor for the heavy equipment, which included 160 ton cranes and two heavy forklifts. Several site visits were made before unloading the units to ensure that all steps were well covered.

The commitment and dedication of the entire team made this project a real success to the great satisfaction of our end customer. The 48 staff members of the project team demonstrated the importance of team spirit despite difficult climatic conditions and on-site challenges which were met with a solution-oriented approach.
