‘Made in the UK, Sold to the World’ Winners Announced

The Department for Business and Trade is proud to announce the winners of the 2024 Made in the UK, Sold to the World Awards. This distinguished accolade honours 10 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for their exceptional achievements in international markets.

Among the winners of this year’s awards are a family-owned craft drinks B-Corp, an innovative electric vehicle manufacturer, and a specialist in rapid diagnostic testing. These enterprises epitomise the diversity and innovation driving the UK’s export success.

In its second year, the awards program celebrates the global sales accomplishments of UK SMEs, and aims to bolster their future growth and international market reach. One notable winner is Warners Distillery, a family-operated craft drinks producer known for its 100% natural, sustainably sourced beverages crafted from home-grown ingredients in Northamptonshire. Recognised in the Agriculture, Food and Drink category, Warners Distillery’s products, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are distributed in major UK retailers and in over 30 countries globally.

The celebration comes on the heels of new data released by the United Nations which places the UK as the fourth largest global exporter of goods and services in 2022, climbing from seventh place the previous year.

For enterprises aspiring to start or expand their international sales, the Department for Business and Trade offers extensive free resources and expert guidance at GREAT.gov.uk.

Lord Offord, Minister for Exports, expressed his enthusiasm about the awards, stating, “These Awards spotlight extraordinary UK businesses making significant strides on the global stage. We hope the achievements of this year’s winners inspire more UK companies to pursue exporting, thereby showcasing the breadth of innovation and quality the UK has to offer.”

Cabinet Office Minister Ester McVey highlighted the critical role of exports in the UK’s economic expansion, commending the winners for exemplifying the best of Britain and Northern Ireland on a global scale.

Marco Forgione, Director General of The Institute of Export & International Trade and a judge for the awards, remarked on the high standard of entries: “The competition was fierce, and selecting the winners was challenging. We are thrilled to support the awardees with IOE&IT memberships and are excited to assist in their continued growth through international trade.”

These awards and recognitions underscore the UK’s commitment to nurturing its talent pool and reinforcing its status as a leader in global trade.
