David Lloyd, General Manager Alibaba, UK, Nordics and Netherlands, comments on today’s ONS UK Trade update:
“A combination of the ongoing pandemic and uncertainty around Brexit created a challenging environment for businesses exporting during November. Unfortunately, these issues are likely to continue in early 2021, as the government races to vaccinate the public and businesses get used to new rules for trading with the EU.
“In the meantime, it’s important that Britain’s businesses look for new opportunities rather than waiting for things to ‘return to normal’. With the global economy expected to grow by 5% in 2021, fuelled by further growth in China and the US economy’s resurgence, now’s the time for ‘Global Britain’ to go from rhetoric to reality. Businesses must expand their horizons and look to new markets to fuel their recovery.”
