PALLITE, an international designer and manufacturer of paper board products from Northamptonshire, UK, has been awarded The Planet Mark, demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.

The Planet Mark is a sustainability certification which recognises outstanding achievements, encourages action, and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals. First year certification is based on the commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability in business operations by measuring and reducing your carbon footprint and engaging your stakeholders.

The Planet Mark’s three-step process to certification includes:

  1. Measure – measuring of carbon resulting in a report that complies with global protocols
  2. Engage – engaging staff to unlock their knowledge and drive passion for change
  3. Communicate – communicating progress, influencing others and building a positive brand.

Steve Malkin, CEO & Founder of The Planet Mark, commented, “We are delighted to have awarded The Planet Mark certification to PALLITE. Through providing lighter, environmentally sourced packaging and warehousing solutions, they are helping every organisation within their supply chain reduce their carbon footprint, across all forms of transport. We celebrate their commitment and ingenuity and look forward to working with them on reducing carbon for many years to come.”

PALLITE calculated the carbon footprint of its operations in Northamptonshire for the year ending December 2019 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually, including emissions from purchased electricity, T&D losses, natural gas, water, product paper usage and paper for office printing purposes. PALLITE’s total carbon footprint in the year ending December 2019 was 740.5 tCO2e – the equivalent to an average family vehicle driving around the circumference of earth 74 times.

Matthew Marks, Compliance and Sustainability Manager at PALLITE, added, “So much of what we do, the very products that we make, are largely centred around reducing the environmental impact of the logistics and packaging industry. Turning the focus onto our own practices, it’s so important that we work to reduce our emissions too and we’re delighted to be recognised for this.”

PALLITE’s bold consumer-led innovations and agile approach are transforming the traditional packaging and logistics industries. Their 100% recyclable products that are made from over 80% recycled materials empower their customers to make sustainable choices while still achieving efficiency, productivity, and bottom-line cost improvements.
