Pangea Members combine and create successful OOG Airfreight shipment

Pangea

Blue Freight Service, a Pangea member in Germany, coordinated an out-of-gauge (OOG) shipment with its counterpart members in Belgium, Cobelair, and US, Express Air Freight (Houston). This was for air freighting a tailor-made shelter for a production line with substantial proportions, weighing 4120kgs.
The customer had packed the shelter into a crate which odd measures could not fit in to. Any of the cargo flights amongst the airlines network were unavailable and part charter was out of the customer’s budget. Therefore, Blue Freight Service, proposed an innovative and cost effective solution that included re-packaging the cargo into crates able to fit into a B747-8 freighter. The cargo, valued  €900,000, was properly insured and the crates flew on a direct flight LUX-IAH.
Cobelair handled the collection of the crates via flatbed trailer, took charge of the security checks and delivered to the airline at Luxembourg International Airport (LUX).
At Houston International Airport (IAH), the Express Airfreight Team arranged and supervised the loading operations and delivered the crates to a free trade zone in Geismar, LA. Delivery was arranged in-bond so that the co-signee could pay Duty/VAT after the equipment was moved out of the free trade zone.
They had only six days margin to complete the whole project as per the customer’s requirements. This came as the customer’s production was already behind schedule. All involved parties handled operations smoothly and professionally. Fast and accurate communication was the key factor to ensure the customer’s satisfaction which Pangea delivered.
