Saudia Cargo has announced a record-breaking performance in 2024, reinforcing its position as a key player in the global logistics industry. The company’s substantial growth, underpinned by strategic expansion, technological advancements, and a strong focus on sustainability, highlights its commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s economic vision.

CEO and Managing Director, Eng. Loay Mashabi, attributed the company’s success to its agile approach and unwavering dedication to innovation. He emphasised Saudia Cargo’s focus on strengthening global partnerships, developing advanced logistics solutions, and expanding its reach to facilitate global trade. With a long-term vision of ranking among the world’s top 10 air cargo carriers by 2030, the company is investing heavily in sustainability and operational excellence.

In 2024, Saudia Cargo transported 577,870 tons of cargo, reflecting a 27% increase in transported weight and a 13% rise compared to the previous year. The company also recorded a 6% increase in flight activity, operating 193,599 flights throughout the year. E-commerce logistics played a significant role in this growth, with a 23% surge in shipments totalling 64,107 tons, while high-value shipments contributed to 54% of total revenues, reinforcing Saudia Cargo’s ability to cater to priority markets with efficiency and reliability.

Operational performance remained a key strength, with the company achieving a 92% on-time flight performance rate, underscoring its commitment to reliability and customer satisfaction. Network expansion was another major highlight, with new permanent routes introduced to Shenzhen, China, as well as seasonal routes to Athens and Nice, further strengthening connectivity between Saudi Arabia and key international markets.

The company also played a vital role in promoting homegrown exports, transporting 13,740 tons of Saudi-produced goods, marking a 14% increase from 2023. Collaborations with Red Sea Global and the Royal Commission for AlUla enabled enhanced global market access for Saudi products while supporting the Kingdom’s tourism and cultural initiatives. Additionally, a partnership with the Saudi Logistics Academy saw the upskilling of 300 employees, reinforcing the company’s investment in workforce development.

Sustainability remained at the forefront of Saudia Cargo’s agenda, with the company working closely with the Ministry of Economy and Planning as part of the Sustainability Champions Program. The publication of its inaugural Sustainability Report for 2024 outlined key initiatives to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, with a dedicated committee established to oversee environmental strategies aligned with IATA’s 2050 net-zero carbon target.

Digital transformation has been another focus area, with a 10% enhancement in digital services, the launch of a specialised e-portal, and improved customer communication channels. As a result, customer satisfaction ratings climbed to 47 points, while cybersecurity measures were reinforced, earning the company an 81.8% rating from the National Cybersecurity Authority.

Recognition of Saudia Cargo’s industry leadership came in the form of prestigious awards, including ‘Excellence in Air Cargo Operations in the Kingdom’ and ‘Best E-Commerce Carrier in the Middle East.’ The company also showcased its capabilities on the global stage, participating in the ‘Air Cargo China 2024’ exhibition alongside SkyTeam Cargo partners and contributing to the ‘Saudi Made’ initiative, supporting national exports and tapping into emerging global markets.

Looking ahead, Saudia Cargo is poised for further expansion, with plans to introduce next-generation aircraft, adopt AI-driven logistics solutions, and implement automated cargo handling systems to enhance efficiency. Sustainability remains a priority, with a commitment to eco-friendly transportation methods and cost-effective logistics solutions. With Saudi Arabia’s strategic location as a global trade hub, Saudia Cargo continues to play a crucial role in driving economic growth and advancing the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, ensuring uninterrupted and seamless logistics solutions for the future.
